From 2021–2022, Connor worked for Congress on the bipartisan Naming Commission to end Confederate commemorations across the Department of Defense. The Commission—three Republicans, one Democrat, and four retired flag officers—completed its work on time, under budget, and with broad support. In 2023–2024, the military implemented every recommendation, honoring new and true American heroes. In 2025, President Trump and Secretary Hegseth reversed the changes with two tweets and a speech.
Connor will speak about the history behind the effort, his time working for Congress, the book he wrote about the experience, lessons in bipartisanship, and what it’s like to see your work undone—along with why it ultimately left him hopeful. He’ll also share how growing up in Rexford and the Capital Region shaped his path, then open the floor for conversation.
Signed copies of his book will be available for purchase—perfect for history lovers!
