"I'll Be Home: the Writings of Jim McGrath", presented by Darryl McGrath

fullsizeoutput_1d87.jpeg

The winner of more awards than any editorial writer in the Albany Times Union’s history, the late Jim McGrath was both an Albany institution and a keen observer of the world beyond. In addition to his editorials and op-eds, “I’ll Be Home” contains essays, critiques, and other writings. The book is both a tribute to a memorable newspaperman and an insider’s perspective on politics and life through the lens of an editorial writer. The book was edited by Jim’s widow Darryl McGrath, an Albany journalist, author, and former journalism professor at SUNY Albany; and Howard Healy, former editorial pages editor of the Times Union. Darryl McGrath will read excerpts from the book and talk about the double hits that print journalism faces today- loss of subscribers and the undermining of confidence in our free press by the current administration. This event is free; refreshments will be available to purchase. Ms. McGrath will be offering signed copies of the book for sale.
